Just Food's CSA in NYC Conference is this Saturday!

Are you interested in learning more about Community Supported Agriculture in NYC?  Come this Saturday, March 29, 2008, to Just Food's CSA in NYC Conference, being held at Columbia Teacher's College, 525 W. 120th St.  The Conference also has lots of information for those of you already active in Hellgate CSA or Astoria CSA - or any other CSA, for that matter.

Workshops will be held on many topics:

Session 1:

1. CSA Outreach Material- Simple and Easy
2. Keeping Our Farms- Farmland Preservation
3. Caring for Your CSA Share- Don’t Let Those Veggies Rot!
4. Bringing Food and Farm Policy to Your CSA
5. Fundraising for your CSA

Session 2

1. Veggies for Everybody: An Interactive Workshop on Low-Income Outreach and Membership
2. New York’s Locavore Movement
3. The Real Deal on Raw Milk
4. Tricks for Building a Strong Core Group
5. Open Space

After the second workshop session, there will be a farmer panel, where you will get a chance to hear the farmers speak, and be able to ask them questions.  Included on the panel are Alan and Nancy Brown of Lewis Waite Farm, who supply both Hellgate CSA and Astoria CSA with meat, eggs, dairy and other goods.

The day will conclude with a wine and cheese reception and Expo, with information available on different organisations, types of products offered by CSAs, as well as information about different CSAs across NYC.
