Costa for Council Fundraiser 2/18

For those who don't know astorians.com's own Costa Constantinides (costa01 here on the boards) is running for NYC City Council, 22nd District, in the Democratic primaries coming 2009.  And so we are having a fundraiser for him this Presidents Day, 2/18 to fill that warchest.  This is a great time to meet Costa and hear his plan for the future of Astoria as well as let him know what issues concern you.  Info below:

When: Monday 2/18 6:30p-9p
Where: Indigo Bar 2850 31st St (between 30th Ave and Newtown) up on the 2nd Floor
What: A fundraiser for Costa Constantinides, door charge, cash bar. 
Donation Levels: $10 Friend $25 Buddy $50 Patron $100 Fan

Astorians may remember Costa from moderating our Townhall Forum back in November at the Greater Astoria Historical Society, and concerned citizens may know him from the LICA meetings, Democracy for NYC get togethers or one of the local Democratic Clubs.  Because Costa believes in responsible development he won't take money from big developers, and is dependent on small donations from local Astorians like the ones on this board.  So come on out and support one of our own.

Could you please also list an address where checks may be sent for those who may not be able to attend but still want to add to Costa's warchest.

I know that Costa wants to follow all the campaign finance rules, and he has a form all his donors fill out with info that has to be presented to get the matching funds, etc, I don't want to throw up the address without the rest of the form and mess something up. Currently the best way to donate is to attend one of the fundraisers, but I think he'll be able to present a more at home alternative in the coming weeks.

I'll definitely be there on Monday. Costa has been very active in the community, fighting against overdevelopment, sanitation issues, and many other quality of life issues which has plagued Astoria. I have never seen someone who knows Astoria and truly represents it better than Costa. He would make a great addition to the NYC Council.
