It must have been wonderful to the live the life of Bob Sheppard

Quote
The Yankees lost one of the family earlier today as former PA announcer bob Sheppard passed away. He was 99 years old.

Derek Jeter continues to come up to bat to a recording for Sheppard’s voice.
He will be the last modern day player to have the legendary announcer say his name at the Stadium.

Greatest sports owner of all time > R.I.P George

Thanks for  caring abt winning and not filling your pockets alone . Like so many owners who have won and basically dumped their stars  , to make more profits the following years , George  kept spending to  put out the best team he could for his fans . He continued to believe  that his team always had to be a top contender year after year . And his fans always should be thankfull for that .

   8-)

I like the note that he died with the Yankees as World Series Champions.

Seems like much to be sad about, but I hope it will be too a baseball celebration.
Would like to Swisher on the field. TB has 3 starters this night. And what pitching!!
RIP and play ball, wherever you are.

it took sometime, the festivities gave way to an exhibition game.
Let the AL streak continue

Good to hear Vlad get a warm welcome return.

What a season. Still in denial regarding Tampa. Will I believe my eyes if both make it to the playoffs?
No matter what, Yanks v Bosux is great sport.

Many people think that the Rays will win 90 games this season making the AL East the best division in baseball , as it has been for the last 10 years
My picks

AL EAST                   AL WEST                       NL EAST           NL Central
Yankees                   SEATTLE                       Phillies              Stl Cards
Redsox                     ANGELS                        Braves               Brewers
Tampa Bay

AL CENTRAL                                               NL WEST
Whitesox                                                               SF Giants
 Twins                                                              LA Dodgers

I was totally wrong abt seattle , but i picked the cws to make up for it .  Cards i still think can and should win with the best one/two punch in the majors with wainwright & carpenter . Giants still have a shot  and ofcourse the Yanks are the best team in baseball /   :)

Yanks v Cards could be a grand historical battle royale. What would you see as best or likely matchups for the World Series?
[I always have a hard time imagining a team besides the Yanks there. Though it would be to me a miracle and interesting surprise if TX made it.]

C.Lee was such a huge pickup for Texas . If the yankees were able to have gotten him , imagine CC and Lee back to back with Andy and Hughes to follow . Would be pretty sick .      Cards still have the best hitter in baseball and  two top aces  , so they can match up with anyone . Problem  for them is getting there .

Reports are that teams have never been tied at the top so long as the Yanks & Rays. Which to me means partly a fluke of losing in sync.

That could be quite a Championship.
As much as I like to see Sux suck it, have to begrudge them some admiration for fighting through the season.

Hopefully TX v Yanks, but at this point just glad they made it.

TBD v Phils. TBD will have a tough time with that.

Boston, catch you this weekend. Then next year after your golfing rounds. Or hockey. Whichever.

It is go time. Hope to see some unexpected members of the team step up, as well as Cano and ARod.

How shocking would it be to see TX v Twins, Braves v Reds
