Merm:  I thought you were replying to the question Ravenswood posted about a new name.  We haven't begun to scout for sites yet.  But I can see where you are going...perhaps our name should reflect our specific site...when we have it.  :)

Jayme,  meeting....We can meet at the distribution site, but it would have to be a daytime meeting.

I didn't clairify the Fri/Sun night thing in my last post....that has to do with a potluck at my house.  I wanted to have that in early Nov.  What do you all think?

Can anyone think of a name that represents the diversity of the entire group?  The Greater Astoria CSA?  North-West Queens CSA?   According to their website, the CSA at the Arrow Community Center call themselves the Queens CSA.  I personally like the first name because we are all residents of the "Greater Astoria" area.

"Greater Astoria CSA" makes me chuckle because since there is already an "Astoria CSA", it both suggests that we cover a larger area and that we are simply GREATER (more great?).

While we could wait until we had a site solidified, we could also come up with a name that is less site specific.  I'm asking everyone this because I don't seem to have that creative ability to come up with witty names.  (My mother came up with Sprout, which I love.)  The name of the CSA could suggest community... (Healthy Neighbor?  see, I'm bad at this.)  Could suggest taste, health, growing practices...

Hmmm. another good newsletter name would be The Dirt.  That wouldn't work for the name of the CSA.  Oh well.

How about Earth CSA? (that' greater than Astoria or Greater Astoria :-) )

I'll start listing names here as I come up with them. My post count is out of control.

Chalk board:

Ceres (Roman goddess of Agriculture)
Demeter (Greek goddess of Agriculture)
Earth
Friends of Earth
Gaia
Vegetable Power

I'd like to propose a 5/5:30 starting time for the next CSA meeting //onsight// -- that way it's not daytime exactly.  Also from doing my volunteer duty, it seemed like that a lot of people picked up between 5-6:30.

How about 5:30 Tuesday 10/25 so we can get it in the newsletter?

Agenda items:

Core CSA volunteers
New distribution site -- putting together a team to work on this (3-5 members maybe?)
New name brainstorming -- possibly location dependant

Good plan.

Megc, you'll put it in Tuesday's newsletter?

@all

I was making a suggestion for both the name and the distro site. :)

How about the "Merm's Apartment CSA"

That would work the best for me.

@ merm: are you willing to host it weekly? Maybe that's not such a bad idea.
:-) ...it would be inside, away from the rain. Air condition?

I'm late to the party here - don't know how I missed the thread.  Too busy today, I guess.

I don't have any brilliant ideas for our name yet, though.  So far, I like Merm's Apartment CSA the best, though.   :D  What Zeno and AstoriaK said.  Heh heh.

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to say?
