I'll be at the Freeze around 4:15, and we can leave whenever everyone is there.

I will be leaving shortly!  Got involved in reading fascinating internet maps...

Guys,

I'm posting this here for you to see... I hope that all of you look at this page.

I just wanted to check in with you to see what you were thinking about the farm trip.  I’m trying to get a good idea of who is coming and who is driving so we can have everything solidified by next week.  Are you planning to come?  If so, would you want to do the early (10:30) trip or the later (1:00) trip?  Do you have (or could you have) a car?  Do you have room in the car for others?   Have you RSVPed to Bill yet?

That's it!  See you tomorrow!

Pickup possibilities today:

5:00 at FP
6:00 at FP

I'm open to either, or inbetween, with a slight preference for later.  Let me know what suits.

Thanks to the group for picking up my veggies.

Also, I'd like to volunteer next week for my three hours. I'm happy to pick up for anyone who needs it as well.

No problem a'tall.

In case anyone was wondering:

Ethnobotanical Notes on Thangmi* Plant Names (PDF)

Quote
phatu (I can’t reproduce the little dot under the t)
Nepali pharsi
pumpkin, summer or winter squash, marrow,
Cucurbita maxima; Cucurbita pepo
The leaves are collected as fodder for domesticated animals, but are also eaten by humans as a vegetable curry.  The large fruit is also made into vegetable curry when it ripens between the months of jeth and asoj, and the dried seeds are eaten as a peanut-like snack.  The fruit is believed to contain agents which help fight jaundice when eaten raw.

*Thangmi is the name of a language spoken by a small ethnic group in eastern Nepal called the Thami (with little lines over the a and i like straight tildes)

Hi RavenswoodCSA, nice to see you on the board :-),
Is it possible for you to slate me for my volunteer hours late into the season?
People who don't like cold weather should put in their hours now; I happen to thrive in zero degree temperatures.

BTW, did you find out about uploading flyers onto the CSA website? ( http://www.ravenswoodcsa.org ) I wouldn't mind handing them out and distributing them where I think they'll do the most good. I am uncomfortable with the fact that we are so close to our quota of 35 people in order to keep the program here alive, yet I am optimistic and have talked to many people who would like to join if only it weren't so close to the end of the season.

How did the interview go with the journalist yesterday?

yours,
-zeno.

I love your encouragement, Zeno! (look, I even winked!)

Now is a great time to start recruiting for next year!  I can send a PDF of the brochure to anyone who wants it, but I don't know that I can post one on the webpage.  Just email me at ravenswoodcsa@yahoo.com.  That said, I guess I should start signing up existing members for next year.

Andrea and I went to see the Future of Food last night.  I know MegC has seen this, too.  It was a bit frightening, despite our knowledge of the evil practices of AgriBusiness.  I left feeling quite relived to have a CSA at my fingertips.
