Le Petit Prince Patisserie Closed?
« on: July 23, 2007, 07:53:42 PM »
Last week I noticed that Le Petit Prince on Broadway was closed most, if not all, of the week.  Coming home from work tonight, I noticed that the front gate is still down and there's now a note taped to it that says "Closed Temporarily" or something like that.

Does anyone know what's going on? I'm hoping it's just renovations or vacation or something since I love having them in the neighborhood.

Thanks!

say it ain't so!
I was counting on a few loaves this Friday for a family get together.
I was going to use their tasty baguettes to make tasty crostini's and a little salmon app.  :-(
not to mention some pastries.
getting it from the stop & shop is just not the same.

le sigh

Still closed. The "closed temporarily" sign is now gone. I tried calling them today as I walked past and noticed the phone number on the awning, but there was no answer or recorded message. At least it's not disconnected, so I guess that's a good sign.  :|

I'm kind of not surprised as this place was way overpriced for Astoria.
I never like to see a business have to close, but some of the new businesses
in Astoria lately are way overpriced. The new Thai place on Broadway comes
to mind, one look at the menu and I won't be eating there.

An opposite example would be the new BAKEWAY down by Crescent, the prices in this
place are dirt cheap and business has been hopping since they opened the doors.
My guess is the prices here won't stay that way but they have sure drawn me in with
their prices.

if they are closed that stinks.  I agree that is was a little expensive, but I was happy to pay due to the quality.  The closest thing I can think of to compare it to in quality would be Artopolis and they aren't cheap either, but also worth the price.

Here's my friend f___-this-up/]Zora's take on the situation[/url].  Really hope they are still open - the part about the ovens is particularly sad.

I saw them taking stuff out last week -- baking equipment, bowls, etc.    I'm still holding out hope, but outlook doesn't look so good...

What's that Meg?

What a bummer! Their baguettes were the best! I guess they were too $$ for the neighborhood. They would do well in the West Village for sure. And I'm sure they would do well in Astoria in 2017.

I spoke to the owner and he told me that they didn't bake the breads at that location. I found their quality to be very inconsistent. It always seemed like a crapshoot on whether or not the bread would be baked well or well baked! Their croissants, however, were always excellent.

Sorry to hear that. I never had a bad baguette - or a bad croissant.
Anyway, it's too bad they're closed up.
