Hello I am interested in this but can't make the meeting because of work.  Someone above posted a question that I would like to know also - I am single and only eat about two meals a day so I would be interested to know how much food is in a share.  I don't want to overload myself with more produce than I can eat.

great, but...

It's really cool that you're doing this, but impossible for the 9-5ers.

Phone numbers again....

I loved meeting with everyone yesterday (and I LOVED the Freeze Peach).  My phone number was posted in the first posting, but I wanted to make sure it is at everyone's fingertips.

work: 718.609.1028
cell (It's not east to get me at work, but please use discriminatingly... I read the thread about annoying cell phone users and try not to be one of those.): 646.284.7762

Also, of course I would say this, but this program is not just for 9-5ers.  Lots of our members have normal hours and pick up by 7:30.  No pressure, though.

Hope to talk to some of you soon!

Questions and Answers as I remember them.
« Reply #18 on: August 11, 2005, 01:25:03 PM »
This is just a brief summary of the meeting.  Contact Cara for more info!!

Q: Contents of share 8/9/2005?
A: Green leaf lettuce or romaine (1 head); sugar snap peas (1/2lb); 2 green peppers; 1 purple pepper; 3 kirby cucumbers; 1lb squash (choose from 3 kinds - globe, yellow summer, zucchini); beets (1 bunch - 2 choices) -- flower share, 2 bunches of red fuzzy flower (elephant ear?)

Q: How to get to share site?
A: Take the 19A from Ditmars or 21st Ave to 35th Ave.  Share site is 1/2 block away from bus stop.  Bus runs frequently but not really on schedule.

Q: What are the hours of distribution?
A: 2:30-7:30, TUESDAY.

Q: If I don't like XX can I switch it for something else?
A: There's a swap box so if someone doesn't like something they can exhange it for something in the box (if there is something in the box).

Q: Cost?  Is there a payment plan?
A: Share is pro-rated for the summer.  Ask Cara for details.  Yes, payment plan is possible.

Issues without answers (discussions in progress):

- Let's pool our resources and figure out a way to rotate pick up.
- Possibility of members with cars making big pick up.  We would contribute gas money to offset cost.
- Possiblity of share site MOVING next year.  Maybe somewhere closer?

Not discussed but adding it here:

I'm going next Tuesday to pick up so anyone who is interested in signing up, checking out, or just keeping company can come along.  Not sure what time I'll go yet.

cheers,
jayme

I'll, ah, try to be around Tuesday for the pickup; by then I'll probably have enough money put together for a share.

As far as moving the distribution point however, I have to disagree.
Even though it would be more "convenient" for us living around Ditmars to have a closer pickup point it kind of overlooks the community outreach aspect of the project. As Cara said, this thing is about more than just vegetables.

Just a thought,
----zeno.

We're in.  Jayme, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to go down to the pick up on Tuesday.  Maybe I can drive.

Wow--this is awesome.  I'd definitely be interested in participating, and in potentially splitting a share with someone, since I'm probably not around enough to eat a whole share myself and would hate to waste.

I don't have a car, but drive, if that helps.  Generally not around during the days, at least not now, but might be as the year goes on.

Thanks so much.

Allison

If you drive, could I go with you?   I could help with whatever is needed.  I just called Cara and I'm in now.  I need to get her a check on Tuesday.  Let me know if the driving situation works out!

Hi Everyone--

I just wanted to post a reminder.  If you are planning on joining for this week, I'd need to know by tomorrow morning.  I've talked to Laura and Meg and am so excited that they're in.  Anyone is welcome to stop by and check it out on Tuesday and feel free to call me!

(and thanks to Jayme for the review of our meeting.)

Thanks,
cara

I'll ride!  I can even give useful directions.  Perhaps gather at the peach at 4?
