I'm at 31st Ave. and 34th St.

I was thinking the other day if I could live anywhere in Astoria, where would that be and I realized it was like one or two blocks over from where I am now (36th St is beautiful between Broadway and 30th). And 33rd between 31st Ave and Broadway was one of those blocks in Time Out's best blocks story.

31st Ave Rules.

It is a great neigborhood.  I used to live on that very block Time Out talked about.  They must have surveyed it while I was walking down the street.  There's no reasonable explaination.

Spending more time down on 31st Ave, I find it charming, and if I lived elsewhere in Astoria, 31st Ave would be a top choice.

36th Avenue and 32nd Street, but I am moving at this end of this week to Broadway & 48th Street, still in Queens!

31st Ave is a gem. It's quiet and clean, and just a block in either direction to 2 great Avenues where you can get almost anything you could need.

I actually think of Broadway as the border between Southern and Central Astoria, though. I certainly feel more like a Central Astorian than a Southern Astorian.

My first place was on 31st street and 24th ave ( i lucked up, with the beergarden and the park so close)... i always felt that the north/south border was Astoria Blvd itself. Not that its even distance wise, just because mentally walking over the highway always felt like you in a different area; either direction. Plus the ditmars area (where I am now) does feel very different than Broadway or 30th Ave.

31st Ave is lovely though. That was our #1 area to move to but there was nothing we liked available at the time.

I will say being in the 40's is also a very different Astoria experience. Walking down Steinway to the R in the morning was not fun. (garbage).

---i should be working, oh well---

43 St. and 35 Ave.  Anyone else live down this far?  Technically, I'm in LIC.   :-P

That's quite close to where I am now!

Not much is more depressing than Steinway by the V/G/R at 7am.  Ugh.  Thank God for the 101 bus.  May she live forever.

Broadway is actually more like the border between Astoria and LIC.

A lot of us South of Broadway have Astoria addresses and are definitely a part of Astoria.  I think LIC starts down by Northern Boulevard - and would be over closer to the river.  Dutch Kills, along 36th Avenue is part of the Astoria Civic Association, so I think Astoria goes further South.
