Autumn or Fall?

What season are we in now, Autumn or Fall?  Which do you usually say?  Do you have any rules or associations that cause you to say one or the other?

For many years I've found myself automatically saying Autumn, because after the leaves have all fallen, it sounds peculiar to me to go on saying Fall.

Either: Fall is mainly American English. Autumn is used more in British English.

I know, I was just trying to start a conversation on something other than restaurants and parking.
