Newtown Plaza

I was very surprised to find that this is actually under construction right now, after all these years.  https://www.change.org/p/queens-community-board-1-and-new-york-city-council-member-peter-vallone-support-the-creation-of-newtown-plaza-at-newtown-and-30th-aves

Well, sort of.  The Newtown will still be a traffic lane in front of the Key Food from what I can tell, but additional concrete has created a narrower traffic path that should slow cars going thru.  It also makes for a large concrete plaza that didn't exist before.  Will it have plants/trees and benches?  Will it become outdoor seating for Salt & Bone which should open soon?  Time will tell, unless someone has more details.  As a carless resident who walks everywhere, this is a welcomed change. That crossing was always a disaster for pedestrians.
