All the vacancies on Broadway lately
« on: February 13, 2017, 03:52:40 PM »
Any idea what is coming into some of them?

The old breakfast diner spot next to Subway
The "coming soon" Chicken place that has been coming for a year
Something new in the PS Pizza place
The bank space mid block near Omonia
The refinished building on the North side next to La Rioja
Something new in the Nazca space
The empty bank space on the corner of 35th Street
The trinket store on Broadway near Gleasons
The new healthy food place next to the Sushi joint.

Did I miss any?  Any idea what is coming to any of these locations?

I'm guessing higher rents.

I think the neighborhood is in the middle of a transition in terms on larger businesses and tenants. Look at all of the volatility of 30th Ave these days. Burnside, Grand Cafe, 16 Handles, and Mexi BBQ all empty.

Nazca finally closed?  Definitely one of the top three WORST restaurant experiences since living in Astoria.  The interior reno was done nicely.  Hopefully something good goes in there.

Too bad about Nazca. I never ate there but it looked really nice. The best Peruvian I have ever eaten outside of S America is at Mezquite.

All the reviews from folks I know who tried Nazca were scathing - disorganized, half cooked food, some dishes delivered semi-frozen.  It looked amazing from the outside, but the stories I heard made me not go in.
