Colombian bakery coming to old Barril Grill spot

I recently noticed that work was starting in earnest on the old Barril Grill spot on the corner of Broadway and 31st Street. Today I saw the sign: it's going to be La Gata Golosa (The Greedy Cat), a Colombian bakery/restaurant with branches in Elmhurst and Jackson Heights.  Has anyone ever been there?

I'm not familiar with it but it sounds very promising.  Some good Columbian food and cakes will be nice for the area and if they are successful in other parts of Queens, then they likely have what it takes to do well there.

Sounds awesome!! Can't wait till they are open up!  Aside from Pollos Mario,Tierras Colombianas and a couple of others we don't have much Colombian food around here compared to Jackson Heights.

Really?  Michael's, the Doral Coffee Shop, and Sanford's all serve American breakfasts, plus there's Bagel Nosh and Broadway Bagels.

Sanfords is awful. Michaels is good, I  never tried Doral.  I was hoping, and going by what people said, for a place where they served some eggs, pancakes, sandwiches,  like  a small diner  geared towards breakfast/lunch.  That's what people thought it was going to be, wrongly it turns out.

The last Columbian bakery on Broadway between Crescent and 29th Street didn't fare too well.  I hope this place appeals to more people and does well in that spot, which seems cursed ever since Gables moved out.

They have great rep for the soups, Sancocho, Frijoles, y Cazuelas. Very well established in the colombian market in JH. Here in Astoria lots of greeks mingle with colombians, so the vibe should be good. I look forward to them.

The Colombian bakery on 38th and Broadway does well. The pandebonos there are wonderful!

I passed by this place last night and the lights were on. I took a peek behind the paper covering the window and saw tables and a counter. I think they are very close to opening. There was even a help wanted sign on the window.
