There are 752 members of this board, meaning about two birthday's per day! So I'm going to take this opportunity to wish everyone born in the month of May a happy birthday, particularly those people who have only posted once or twice and who the rest of us internet-addicts may not know quite so well... Happy Birthday, lurkers!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes everybody!

If anyone is interested, tomorrow (Wednesday) a friend and I are having a joint-birthday shindig at the Beer Garden. We'll probably be there from about 6:00 on if any of you Astorians want to stop by for a pint.

Happy belated birthday to nycatexas and a future birthday wish to tartist!  yay birthdays!

Hey, nycatexas, where in CA did you live (I think I remember you saying you lived there)?

So pleased that are so many former west-coasters here.

Thanks for the birthday wish Meg...I had a great day!

Yes I did live in Northern California for a little over a year while in the U. S. Coast Guard. I was stationed in Petaluma, about 40 miles north of San Francisco. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever had the pleasure of living. (thank you U.S. Govt) The base was actually on a National Wildlife Preserve. Sometimes marching from the barracks down to the school we would have to wait for the deer to cross. They weren't bothered by us at all and would just take their time...it was awesome! Everything was so green and lush. I've got so many great memories from there....a bunch of us too broke to fly home for Thanksgiving eating at a tiny  Italian restaurant off Hwy 101 (there are few things more depressing than eating a holiday dinner at a military messhall), Christmas day having a picnic and bonfire at the beach - so much fun! And don't get me started on the wine-tasting trips...Johannesberg Reisling from the Robert Mondavi vineyard will always have a special place in my heart  :-)

Also get to go to Cali at the end of June for a wedding....in the OC....going to be the most lavish wedding I've been too....my nephew's fiance is the only daughter of VERY rich, VERY doting parents and I am looking forward to the extravagance. (Surprisingly she isn't a spoiled brat ...lovely girl inside and out.)
