It looked like they might be opening the restaurant today.

Was thinking of going to the El Rey restaurant tonight. Can anyone tell me if it's a sit down place or a storefront only? Thanks!

I went Thursday night.  They have some sitdown space.

I'd heard so much hype about the truck and the 'hood, so I was disappointed when I found that there was still a sticker on one of the peppers in my fajitas.  Kind of makes me wonder if they washed the vegetables.

With that said, I'm still going to give them a few more tries.  I figure that they're just starting up, so mistakes are bound to happen.

I went with caution, but was happily pleased. This Azteca Pride is on Steinway near the R station across the street from Astoria Diner-Lucille Roberts-Casa del Bebe.
32-41 Steinway not far from Broadway.

And the area could make easily for a taco crawl. Around the corner you can find Guacamole and Margaritas and Tacos Mexico. Any recent favorites from those places?
Those may be easier for sitdown and some have bar and drinks.

The Rey del Taco place was not too small. Like a grill/small diner with a few tables and room to sit.
You can get what you may expect. Simple not expensive. I like classic tacos corn tortillas served with radish and limes.
If anyone tries the Chilaquiles, let us know how they are. I didnt see tamales on the menu but I am sure you can ask if they have some to serve.

(fyi, there are bottles of Coke refresca but the ingredients say made with sugar OR corn syrup. Alas.)

They serve breakfasts. And menu includes tortas, flautas, huaraches, ...
Horchata, tropical shakes, and more.

It is still out of my way and would serve when getting around those parts. Any other places that you prefer?
I do wish we had Azteca in more places. And if you are around Astoria Blvd. try the tiny Puebla.

Bienvenidos and good luck.

I have to say that I got a taco truck taco for the first time last night. It was awesome. I got the taco mixto. $2 and I was very pleased with what I was consuming.

Had my family over on Saturday night and instead of trying out the restaurant one of my brothers went over to the taco truck and picked up a huge order of tacos, tortas and whatever else...it was de-scrumptious!

I was walking to the R train this AM and saw a For Sale sign on the Azteca Pride storefront.  Could it really have gone out of business so quickly?  Maybe this is why earlier this week, I saw the truck parked on 30th Avenue at midday, an unusual time for them.
