Best date location in Astoria.
« on: April 20, 2010, 01:12:11 PM »
This topic may have been covered but I thought I would refresh it since new places are opening all the time.  What's your favorite Astoria date restaurant?  I'm looking for someplace new for a date night.  Someplace with good wine, nice atmosphere, excellent food and attentive service.  Quaint, cute, relaxed, and not to break the bank completely.  No televisions or loud music or drunken freaks.

If I wasn't already me, I'd recommend to me some places like:

Mundo
Stove
Christos (a little pricey for a standard date night, but dang, so worth it to splurge)
Locale (although I'm the only person in Astoria who thinks Locale a little overrated, I like the atmosphere)
718
Vesta
Brick
Bistro 33
Leng

Can anyone add anything to this list?

Brick Cafe
Mombar (half hearted recommendation - I liked it but others have reported bad experiences - it is lovely though

Watawa for Japanese. I've always had great experiences there.

I guess this is really Long Island City, but I am a fan of the Water's Edge.

I'm glad you liked it and I'm sure it's a fine restaurant but we had a TERRIBLE experience there once and vowed to never go back.   It was so awesomely bad, we still laugh about it.   The setting was romantic, though.

Daisy, those are some good ones.  We've tried Philoxenia for a date once and it was a good spot -- I like getting unusual foods.  Still haven't tried Orneilla yet.  Might have to check that one out.  I don't know anything about Bartolino's.  Might have to look into that one as well.  You rock!  Thanks.

Oh, man, I'm so hungry right now.
